Transferring from UC to CC to CSU

Hi,

I’ve recently had some really crappy circumstances wherein I had to drop from my UC during my fourth year (not because of grades or dismissal or anything like that, and I had a little over a year left). Now I’m back home, set to enroll in my CC this fall to take math courses. My only thing is I would like to transfer to my local CSU as a math major, when my last major was in the humanities. I’ll be at this CC for about two years doing math prerequisites as I’m working full time. Do you know if CSUs deny folks for having a lot of units from a 4 year? I’d still do my last two years at the CSU. I couldn’t find anything to suggest this but wanted to be sure, otherwise I’ll just do a trade or something. Thanks! (And no I don’t want to go back to the UC, didn’t like it there).

Make an appointment wwith the transfer admissions office at the CSU, bring in your UC transcript, and have a talk about your options. Find out what you need to do to complete a math major there. It could well be that it makes best sense to transfer directly into the CSU instead of transferring twice.

Yeah I recommend discussing with a transfer counselor at your CC and even an advisor at the CSU if they can give you a rough estimate of what credits transfer/what you’ll need to do to get there. Depending on the CSU you may not need to complete all the prereqs at the CC.
