Transferring from UC to UC

Hi,
I heard from a friend that it is possible to transfer to UCLA as a sophmore if you apply your freshman year at your current UC. I am still a bit skeptical about this because from what I have been reading, intercampus transfers mostly happen for third years. Can somebody please confirm this?

Thanks

It depends on the college. Some colleges ( UCSB for instance for winter quarter) only accept junior transfers, but UCSC accepts all. If you look on the univeristyofcalifornia.edu website there is a list of colleges that are accepting which levels.

It's called an Intercampus Transfer. You should visit your counselor and they can help you out with that.

Aren't intercampus transfers more for if there is a specific professor you want to study under or such? When I asked a my counselor at UCSD thats what he told me. On a UCSB website it describes them as

"The Intercampus Visitor (ICV) Program allows qualified undergraduate students at UCSB to take advantage of educational opportunities at other UC campuses. Students may take courses that are not available at their home campus, participate in special programs, or study with a distinguished faculty member at another campus for one quarter."

If not, I'm gonna be p****. I applied with the normal transfer application, which judging from all the information i found (which was very little), that is what you do.

I talked to my counselor today. She told me that is is possible to transfer; however, the UCs prefer that you finish your GE courses at your current UC before reapplying. What should I do? Should I apply this year as a freshmen, and hopefully get in as a sophmore next year or should I wait until I have junior standing? My friend told me that it is easier to apply now because we do not have any grades.

Well do you have anything to lose by applying now? If they don't take you, just reapply
