UCLA to UCB Transfer Question

Hey everyone,

I'm pretty sure that this is not possible but I will ask anyways.

I will be a junior this upcoming quarter at UCLA and, upon finishing my prereqs at the end of the quarter, will declare a mathematics major. I currently have a 3.77 gpa.

My question is, given that I am already late in my college career, is it possible to transfer to UC Berkeley? Since it appears that the application is intended for sophomores interested in transferring to UCB where they would enter as juniors, I assume that it is not possible to transfer into UCB from UCLA for the upcoming Spring Semester? And if it is true that this would not work, then I would have to apply with the rest of the transfers, to be potentially admitted next fall by which time I would be a senior at UCLA; since I recall that UCB does not take senior level transfers, this means I would be unable to transfer from UCLA to UCB without taking time off from college, correct?

Thanks again everyone who contributes!

It depends. Some campuses do not accept intercampus transfers who have completed more than 120 quarter (80 semester) units. They do accept spring admits for Cal but you have to apply originally for fall.

So, to make sure I fully understand it, if I applied this upcoming October-November, if I have not exceeded the unit cap required to make an intercampus transfer, there is the possibility I could enroll in this upcoming Spring Semester?

Nope, applications would be for admission the next academic year. I want to say you are probably SOL given you’d be well past the unit range UCB is looking for

No. Spring 2015 is not an option. Those who are starting Spring 2015, originally applied for Fall 2014. For whatever reasons they where deferred. You can currently only apply for Fall 2015. If you were accepted and deferred then it would be Spring 2016.

Well that would mean I would have to stop taking classes essentially as by the next year I would be well over the unit cap required to do an intercampus transfer. Oh well, thanks for the responses everyone!
