Transferring from UCR

Hi there, I'm a first year student at UCR, and now that I've decided to major in engineering, I'd like to transfer to a school with a stronger engineering program. My top choice is Berkeley, then UCLA or Santa Barbara.

I know that transferring from a UC to UC is hard (especially if my UC is at the bottom of the barrel), but I'm wondering what you guys think of my chances.

Stats:
Major: Engineering (still undecided about which type of engineering)
3.81 first quarter
Should be about the same second quarter, maybe a little bit higher or lower
Should end freshman year with a GPA around 3.8

SAT's (taken junior year of high school): 1900
High school GPA: Weighted 3.6
Unweighted: 3.2

Extra-curriculars: My main extra-curricular activity is my band. We play a show every week or so, and have a pretty big following in the area. Our internet page gets about 400 plays a day.
I also tutored kids in Calculus.

High School GPA does not matter. That aside, your stats seem pretty good. UC-UC is hard, but not impossible. Go to Assist and check our the pre-reqs you need to complete to the target UC of your choice. I'd say it would be difficult for Berkeley but you still have a chance.

Sephorazn18 is right, high school stats are not looked at for admission for transfers. Check out the prereqs required for the universities that you want to transfer to and make sure you complete them by the end of the year you wish to apply. Your stats are fine, just keep it up and I think you might have a shot at transferring to the colleges you are desiring to go to. Good Luck

Would it make a significant difference having a 3.9 vs. like a 3.7? Or do you think they wouldn't view those that differently?

Does anyone have some direct experience with this?
