So I am a current freshman at UCSD and I am a biology major. I am looking to transfer into the animal biology major at UC Davis. I was admitted to UC Davis as a freshman during my senior year. One of my family members is sick and I would like to return in order to help take care of them, however, my mom has told me it is my decision. Would I have a better chance of being admitted to UC Davis as a sophomore if I were to return home and take community college courses or if I were to stay at UCSD and finish out the year?
UC’s only accept Junior level transfers (90 quarter units), so you can finish the year out at UCSD, start a CCC and apply for next fall or start a CCC immediately and TAG to UCD during next fall’s application period.
I have already filled out the application for sophomore transfer to UC Davis because the college of Agriculture and Environmental Science admits sophomore transfers. I am just not sure whether or not taking courses at the community college for spring semester would be the better choice for being admitted for fall 2016.
UCD’s Agriculture and Environmental Science college does accept sophomore transfers (if there is room). Have you contacted UCD transfer admissions to see if this a possibility?
If you need to be closer to home, then I would start a community college sooner than later. If you are not needed at home, immediately, I would finish out the year at UCSD.
I would also suggest you post your transfer questions on the UC transfer forum since there are far more knowledgeable posters familiar with UC transfers. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/
I have contacted admissions and they told me that as long as I complete the requirements and do well then I have a good chance of being admitted. Thank you, I will post on that forum
