Just wondering if any transfers have received their admission notifications yet...The website says that they've already begun releasing decisions, as of the 15th of this month. I haven't received anything yet...And the suspense is slightly annoying :)

im still waiting, but im not sure i will want to go to SB even if i get accepted :/

Hi bobbak, same here. I'm waiting on Cal, LA, and SD. I'd choose these over SB any day. Not that there's anything wrong with SB... I think the other three are sweeter cups of tea for me.

Katie

i'm still waiting, already been accepted to irvine and and i'm pretty sure i'm into SD...still waiting on LA though, so i wouldn't go anyway.

nice. well good luck to all of you!
my top choice is LA, then Cal, then its tied between Davis and SB.

still waiting on SB...if I get in, I'm not sure if I'll go because they don't really seem to take care of their transfers :(
It'd be between UCI and UCSB for me... Good luck everyone!

It's so great to hear from my fellow transfers. Thank you for the posts :)

Congrats KatieeJr on your acceptance to Irvine! :)

Hey bobbak, I currently live in Davis. I've taken several classes there as well. Have you visited the town/campus? It's definitely a nice retreat from the hustle of the city (Sacramento) and only an hour drive from the City (San Francisco).

Nice town, as most college towns are.

Katie

CaliCurls: How don't they take care of transfers?

kaymoua1123, thanks! anyone else considering irvine?

Katie, I've visited the UCD campus a few times now, and I actually like it alot. Same with the town, its a very relaxed, chill atmosphere, and the people there had their head on their shoulders, which is something I really liked.
The only problem is, its too close to home for me, since Im from sacramento.
I feel like I should be going to SB because its on the beach, and its "fun", and Ill never have an opportunity like that again while Im young. The thing is, even though I like to do my fair share of partying, I feel like its just overdone in SB. Plus I dont like how the CC kids mix with the UC kids.

and dmsurfr101, what Cali is referring to is the housing. We both have a problem with the fact that UCSB does not guarantee housing for tranfers, and it seems like what they do give you, if you are lucky to get it, isnt that great.

dmsurfr--bobbak said it all :) I've also heard that a transfer student at UCSB has a really hard time getting classes (but I'm not sure how it is at the other UC's). If you wanna live in IV, and know people to live with, you'll be fine. And you'll probably have an awesome time.
kaitee--I'm considering Irvine, I'm just struggling with it reputation as the "boring" school. I want to have fun in college (and yea learn something too)...Maybe UCSB is a little over the top, I just want a happy medium

Irvine is my extreme backup so it is my last choice school. I rather go to UCB, UCSD, UCLA, UCSB, UCD

I consider UCI just a bigger junior college. It is a commuter school. I'm in a jc right now, so UCI will provide a similar type of environment to a jc/commuter school. I'm looking for something different. I used to live in Irvine. It's a good school, but I rather go to schools with better reputations. Also, I feel that the college environment at other schools are much better.

But if I was forced to choose between Irvine and Riverside, I would choose Irvine.

kaymoua1123,
I received my transfer acceptance from UCSB on Mar 15th, the same date of the freshman notifications. Did you apply late?

I love UCSB when I went to visit the campus. All I want to know now is can a student survive in SB without a car? Is public transportation used there? Are there grocery stores nearby where I can just walk to and buy food?

UCSB is by far one of my favorite schools. It is probably the most beautiful campus in all of California.

Yeah, it was the visit and their presentation that hooked me , and I had visited a number a schools, including Pepperdine and Univ of San Diego, both very beautiful schools, but I liked UCSB better.

Hi bobbak,

I agree. Davis is nice and all, and I only have good things to say about it, but it's just too close to home for me :)

Hi Ronris,

Congratulations! That's GREAT! Okay, now I'm a little worried...I live in Northern California and I submitted my UC apps on the last day of the filing period...How about you?

Katie

I submitted my app way before it was due, was accepted to irvine on the 15th, but i haven't heard anything from SB yet...so i dont think its anything to worry about.

yeah, even if you had submitted after the due date, UCSB was still accepting Transfer applications as late as Janurary this year according to a Transfer Admissions counselor I spoke to on my visit. The Counselor said this was a good year to be a transfer because the number of applicants were low this cycle. The University seeks to admit a certain number of transfers each year to maintain their numbers.... UCSB will be getting to yours pretty soon if not already.

kaymoua1123,
I submitted my Application a few weeks before the filing due date. I completed the Application Update in mid Janurary.

well hopefully since they dont have that many transfers applying, there will be a better chance of getting on campus housing :D

haha nice try bobbak...
