Transferring in the Fall

College GPA of 3.86 with 72 credits amassed, but however have an abysmal 2.4 HS GPA and never took the SAT's. Also, took two yrs off, but worked at a neuroscience lab, advertised/marketed for a sports agency, and tutored students in both chem/math.

What are my chances, especially coming from a community college

your college gpa and all that looks good, especially that you have real life experience working...however, im not going to sit here and lie to you, your high school stats are not good and it really hurts not taking the sat's or act's...i cant really say that you have that good of a chance...

Chimps for transfer students, and especially junior transfers the college GPA will have more emphasis on it than the high school one since it's the present performance. Also, I just read (after you posted) that the SAT's aren't a requirement if I've never taken them. (this is only applicable to transfers). Finally, chimps a word of advice don't make a statement if you're not positive about it. For most colleges the college GPA has more weight placed on it, especially if you've completed at least two yrs. Plus I graduated HS in 2005, so obviously my college GPA will have a bigger impact showing my strong current academic performance.

wmtribe, you post a thread asking people their opinions about your chances, and then you bash them and get defensive when someone does as you ask them? If you are so sure about how WashU ranks credentials in importance in their evaluation (as your second post seems to suggest), why did you post in the first place? I don't get it. There's a difference between a chances thread and an ego stroking. I think you were looking for the latter.

wmtribe08 - my unasked for advice would be that you don't go for an interview with that attitude - that is, if they even offer them to transfers - frankly I don't know whether they do or not - I'm just not positive about that. Enough disclaimer? Need any more help?

first of all, i never said i was stating facts about what WashU going to place emphasis on. Plus, I have read everything about transfer admission, as I also am applying as a transfer. I know that you don't HAVE to have SAT, but I THINK that a prestigious college like WashU will look and see that you don't have any and that could affect your decision. Also, I THINK that having a subpar high school GPA, even though I know a college GPA will carry more weight, will draw attention from the admissions committee. (It kind of shows that you apparently aren't always committed to academics). Also, If you come on here asking a question, and someone answers, you shouldn't refute their answer immediately, that kinda ruins the point of asking peoples' opinions in the first place.
