Transferring in with an A.A.S?

Dear Chris,

I'm transferring into Stony with an A.A.S from a CUNY. I read on the Stony website which states:

"Graduates of SUNY or CUNY colleges who earn an A.A. or an A.S. degree prior to matriculation at Stony Brook will receive credit for all course work completed as part of the associates degree requirements."

Do you know if this statement is completely true?

I also recall reading somewhere that when I attend my orientation, I should bring proof of earning an A.A.S degree to my orientation.. what is actually considered as "proof" of my A.A.S degree? just a transcript?

Thanks Chris!

I’m sure it’s true. However, earning credit for the coursework does not necessarily mean you will place out of certain requirements at Stony Brook.

You should bring your transcript with you. Call University Admissions to doublecheck though.

Yes it is. But an AAS, unfortunately, does NOT come with the same guarantee. It’s possible that you may only get a handful of transferable credits… mostly any liberal arts coursework you’ve taken.

And yes, a final transcript is good, especially if you’re just finishing up courses this month and we don’t have those grades yet.

Chris
