Transferring into COE from other Top School?

Hey. I am interested in transferring from Vanderbilt Engineering into Cornell Engineering. What is a good GPA to transfer from Vanderbilt to Cornell Engineering given the fact that I go to a top school and that I am an Engineering and Math major?

I've given the old Fall Thread a cursory glance and didn't stumble upon anyone transferring from a top 20 school.

Vanderbilt isn’t a top engineering school, but you should talk to your councilor if you are looking for transfer information.

Counselor*

I’m just curious if people have any anecdotes of transferring from a top school to Cornell COE. Or, even any facts. That’d be even better.

I know Vanderbilt isn’t a top engineering school. I never said it was. When I say, “Vanderbilt is a top school”, I am saying it is holistically.

I’m saying Vanderbilt is a top school to delineate the fact that I am not the usual transfer applicant to Cornell. I know a lot of transfers come from community colleges and state schools. I spent my Fall Break at Cornell(this past weekend) and met many people from CC’s and State schools. I assume (or at least I hope) that Cornell would treat my going to a top school with more weight and be lenient to the fact that I do not have a 3.8-4.0. Unlike state schoolers, I compete against kids who have scores very similar to the average Cornellian. (Interesting fact: For the most recent class, Vanderbilt engineering students actually have higher SAT scores.[Cornell Engineering: Class Profiles](http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/admissions/undergraduate/why_cornell/class_profiles.cfm)

Actually, that has been trend for a few years now. I digress.

“When I say, “Vanderbilt is a top school”, I am saying it is holistically.” That’s also false, but whatever.

Many ivies deny the majority of applicants with perfect test scores. How foolish would it be to compare the reputation of the program based on something that admissions doesn’t value too much.
