Transferring into engineering

First off, let me clarify. Do you have to apply to the college of engineering, or do you just apply to the university as a whole?

If you apply to the college of engineering, and are not admitted, but also apply to CAS, and are admitted, can you transfer into engineering, assuming you get good enough grades as a freshman and take maybe calc or other required freshman engineering courses?

Is there a limited enrollment for engineering? For example, do they only take 200 applicants, and the rest are just rejected from the university, or do they accept them into the university in general, where they can be undeclared majors?

Thanks for any help!

I asked a similar question of a MU admissions rep at a college fair last month. Mine was, are you admitted directly into engineering or instead into a pre-engineering freshman class who subsequently applies to their chosen engineering dept for entry as sophomores? And the answer was NO, you are admitted directly into the College of Engr as a freshman. Now are the criteria different for Engr vs. CAS? Don’t know.

Not much help, I know. Your questions might be suited to our friends in the Admissions Office! I know the number :)

Additional factoid on scholarships: I learned that the engineering school also has a little money pile and can make additional awards on top of Ignatius etc. Who gets them and how much? Don’t know!
