“Could you describe in aspects Michigan college experience is better than the others’?”

This is obviously personal and will very wildly from person to person. What made Michigan so applealing to me was the following:

1) Friendly, down-to-earth students. I clearly felt it when I visited the campus before making my decision. I got the same vibe when I visited Brown, Chicago and Cornell, but none of the other schools I was admitted to had that sort of welcoming atmosphere.

2) Lively and spirited campus with happy and proud students

3) Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor! I have travelled to over 40+ countries, visited over 100 cities, lived in Paris, London, New York, Berlin and spent much time in Barcelona, San Francisco, Montreal and Chicago and even then, I still find Ann Arbor to be very appealing, charming, intellectual…and, for lack of a better word, magical.

4) Huge alum base that is omnipresent. No matter what country, city, industry or company, Michigan alums will be found anywhere and everywhere, often in a position of influence and almost always willing to lend a hand to a fellow Wolverine.

5) Finally, and this is personal to me as an international student; Globally, Michigan’s reputation is hard to beat, but that was the case with half the universities I was seriously considering.

Ironically, I knew nothing of Michigan’s athletic tradition until after classes began…but it turned out to be another great addition to the Michigan experience.

Could you describe in what aspects is A2 charming and magical?

Is there a way to find A2 alum and apply where they work at to increase your chances of being hired?

You’ll find UM alums everywhere, so by default you’re going to be applying to places with UM alums. The key is effective networking.

How do you effectively network?
