Transferring into Sarah Lawrence College difficult?

I was wondering whether anyone has any experience transferring into Sarah Lawrence College and how difficult it was? As in, is the standard very high? I am currently a college Freshman and have a low gpa (3.3) and I want to transfer in as a junior (giving me a chance to raise that gpa up!). I am currently a pre-med with an Anthropology major.
Do I have I chance?

Sarah Lawrence is quite holistic. I don’t think GPA will matter as much.

I would honestly advise against transferring to Sarah Lawrence especially if you are a pre-med. Unless you can pay tuition, it isn’t worth incurring debt. SLC gives **** aid.

My daughter received substantial merit aid, even though we didn’t qualify for a penny of need-based aid.

did your daughter also have “shoddy” grades like me?

Hello Josefien,

I am a current sophomore at SLC, and I am more than happy to answer your question despite the rather delayed response. I don’t know how much of use this will be to you, but hopefully this is useful for others who are looking into transferring to SLC!

First off, I am not a transfer student, however I know plenty of students who are. Many transfer students apply to SLC from community colleges, and knowing from the friends that I have, from larger universities as well. Sarah Lawrence is frequently a strong choice for many transfers because it offers a very intimate approach to learning through small, critical conversation based seminars and one-on-one conferences with your professors. As a pre-med student in particular, SLC does have a smaller program in comparison to many other departments, though there are many people who do pursue this field of study. Since we offer small seminars and the conference system, you will be able to have a more hands-on, personal experience that will allow you to graduate with a deep knowledge that will prepare to be a varied, critical thinker for medical school.

Sarah Lawrence does give grades, however, emphasis is placed on your evaluations-- which determine the breadth of your growth throughout the semester through written encouragement and critique. Although you will certainly have the opportunity to raise your GPA if you apply yourself, this effort will be most recognized in your qualitative review.

If you are able to show yourself as a student who is willing to push themselves in a critical, deep thinking manner (both in spoken dialogue and in your writing), you will be a competitive candidate to Sarah Lawrence.

I hope this helps!
