So I got into to Steindhart and will be starting in the fall- well, in 2 weeks. But I’ve been starting to get emails from my professors about textbooks and such, but I know for a fact that I do not want to stick with my current major so I don’t know if I should spend so much money on textbooks yet. Possibly I’d like to change my major to MCC in Steindhart or to economics in CAS. Is it normal for people to ask their counsellors this early on for transfers? Or would it not be possible?
I just want to know the likelihood before I ask, in case asking this early will give my counsellor a bad impression of me
Thank you!!!
It’s common for freshman to have second thoughts about their majors and this is a common issue that the counselors deal with every year. if you are confident you want to switch schools (like to cas from steinhardt) i think it’s better to talk early so you can better understand your options and the requirements for each major/school. if you plan to stay in steinhardt for mcc, then you can take a few mcc courses in the fall and see if that’s something you want to continue to pursue (if the mcc classes that you’re interested in are still open on albert). Also hold off buying textbooks because most of the time textbooks aren’t needed on a per case basis (i’ve had many times where I’ve gotten the book but only used like 2 pages of it throughout the semester).
