transferring out of geneseo?

hey, everyone! i just wanna start off by saying i love geneseo. i'm currently a first semester freshman & i'm having a great time at school, but i have a huge problem with the academics right now, as i'm a communications major. i want to be a journalism major, though, and the communications program at geneseo is not good at all, to put it nicely. i was considering transferring to hunter, a commuter school in NYC (i'm from queens) but i'm having a really hard time deciding. geneseo's great, but is it worth it for a degree from 4 years of learning nothing? don't get me wrong, it's great for science or education (pretty much every person i talked to is either some kind of science major or an education major, and i can't even begin to count all the pre-med majors). i know that i should go to a better communications school, but i hate that i'm going to miss out on going to geneseo and getting a campus experience for the next four years. i can't make a decision!

does anyone know of any schools that have a good journalism program but also campus life as well?

[S.I</a>. Newhouse School of Public Communications](http://newhouse.syr.edu/)

I didn’t include this school in my earlier post because of cost. Syracuse University is another very good school to look into for Communications and Journalism.

Stony Brook…

[Stony Brook University Academic Departments - School of Journalism](http://www.stonybrook.edu/sb/departments/journalism.shtml)

I didn’t include Stony Brook because there isn’t much of a campus life. You mentioned in your original post that campus life is also important to you. Many students go home on the weekends and it feels like a commuter school. It’s a great school, but the trade off is a not so great residence experience.

SUNY New Paltz!!
