When I applied to UCSD, I put Revelle College down as my first choice of college, thinking that I needed to since my major is housed in Revelle. (My major is Dance.) I didn’t realize that I should have instead ranked the colleges based on which of their general education requirements I would prefer to take. Well, I’m planning on entering UCSD this Fall, and I will attempt an Inter-College Transfer in the winter quarter. With an ICT application, the goal is to prove you can graduate at least two quarters earlier if you transfer colleges. As an IGETC transfer, if I remained in Revelle, I would have to take a total of four science courses and three math courses to satisfy its general education requirements. (I took one biology course at a community college, which satisfies the fifth science course required.) Therefore, I feel I can prove that if I transfer out of Revelle, I would be able to graduate two quarters earlier. However…I am nervous because I’ve read that transferring colleges at UCSD is very hard to do, and is not guaranteed. How good do you think my chances are? :-S
From what I’ve read if you can prove it affects your graduation then it’s legit reason to ask. If you are a transfer then housing is even a non issue.
Revelle was generally considered as the pre-med student’s college. Most people in other majors would go to the other colleges. I don’t know if the rule has changed but you used to have to have to successfully completed two quarters, with decent grades, to apply for transfer to another college. Check with your advisor at UCSD. Rules may have changed for transfer.
Thank you very much, DrGoogle and aunt bea!
