Hi! I am an incoming SUNY student but I have a strong desire to try and transfer to a T20 for finance reasons. I was accepted to IU Kelley OOS, but the steep cost of 45K a year would make it not affordable to attend. As a first generation low income Hispanic individual, how difficult would it be for me to try and transfer into a T20 or finance target/semi-target school given my high schools stats of 88.74 average with 4 APs and an ACT of 33? I plan on taking the SAT one more time for my third time and grinding the first semester for as close to a 4.0 as possible.
Transferring for financial reasons makes sense but just a warning, it is much harder to get merit aid from top colleges and they will probably give you around the same financial aid you would get anywhere else.
Without some details about your ECs it is hard to say but your GPA will hurt. Getting a 4.0 first semester will help a lot but it’ll still hurt quite a bit. Getting a 1540+ SAT or 34+ ACT will help your chances
Did you try Questbridge?
Thanks so much for helping me out lol. My ECs are things along the line of Model UN, having a managerial position at a F500 company, editor of school magazine, Student Government, Production Assistant all throughout high school for an art collective
