I have two choices. First one is to finish at an 8/10 high school, taking the hardest courses and have a 90% chance of getting straight A’s. The second one is to transfer to a more challenging high school that has a better reputation and is rated 10/10. The transfer would take place around Sophomore/Junior year. Any advice?
Your current high School is very good. Doing extremely well at a very good high school is better than attending a school for its better reputation, unless you’re really miserable at the 8/10 school.
They both sound like good opportunities, in my opinion. If you stay at your school and you’re at the top of your class and you’re okay with not being super challenged, you have a higher likelihood to get into a better college due to your high marks in comparison to the other student body. If you were to transfer, I assume the more challenging school would have a more competitive student body considering the better reputation, therefore, more people to compete with when getting into a good school.
