Transferring to a competitive school CMU - Carnegie Mellon University

I am aware that I will either be ripped to shreds or will be encouraged, but either way I decided that I will post here.
I finished my first freshman semester with a 3.0 GPA, after making the mistake of signing up for 8 courses, I withdrew from 2 leaving me at 6. I feel disappointed, even though I was also engaged in a program where I assisted international students with their English.

I have an intention to transfer to CMU after my second semester, when I will be talking 4 courses at my home college and one at CMU. My aim is to get a 3.5 or higher.

My current situation:

Major: Global Policy Studies
Gpa: 3.0
Full time student 4-5 classes
Total College Credits: 34
Enrolled in: Scholars Program
Languages: 5, English, German, Russian, Latin and Japanese
Extra Curricular: Business and Entrepreneurship Club, International Conversation Partners and working on creating my own organization.
Involved in volunteering, at the library, museum and language center. Also involved with tree care and planting.

High School Situation
Gpa: 4.0
Max classes each semester.
National Honors Society and head of 3 student organizations
Took college community classes during senior year, 5 college classes (A average), along with high school load.
Total cumulative college credits: 23, took two classes at Carnegie Mellon as well (A and B).
Numerous volunteer options.
SAT: 1550; definitely not the highlight of my career

I think I can manage to volunteer more, maybe even land an internship, take summer classes, and also increase my GPA. t want to know what I can do to increase my chances to transfer, or if I even have a shot.

I want to transfer into the Dietrich college as Global Studies major. Thank you, and please no false information..
