I'm thinking of transferring from a CC in Los Angeles to one in the Bay Area, partly to be closer to my friends up north. I've been at my current school for 2 years, and I have about a year (20-odd units) before I'm eligible to transfer. I'm hoping to get into UC Berkeley, my GPA's good so far and all that, but I'm worried about something getting messed up in the transfer process, or if changing schools would affect my eligibility (like if my current school offered an essential course to my major but the new school didn't). Is there any way to make sure all my classes will transfer so I don't have to retake anything at the second CC? Any additional advice would be really helpful too.

if your only 20 units off why not finish it? then transfer to cal?
thats only 1 more semester :)

if you really feel the need to transfer CC’s then you most certainly can.
UCB will take credits from both CC’s. the only problem with going to a new CC is getting all your paperwork/transcripts ready for apps. and @ your new CC, you MIGHT have to get a late registration date because you have no credits at their CC.

so no, you dont have to retake classes, if you need to make sure…contact cal/a counselor.

but like u already pointed out, there is a chance that your new CC might not have an essential class you need. if tahts the case you can get screwed :(, so make sure you check what classes they have before you transfer over.
