Transferring to a University in NYC

I am wondering what my chances are about being accepted to certain schools in New York City. I’ve been having a rough time lately with personal issues, causing me to transfer before. I am still very conflicted about what career I want to pursue and, of course, my personal issues are not helping with that decision.

I had a high GPA in high school. I had a 4.0. Unfortunately, my high school was not very demanding or a top school. My school only offered 4 AP classes and you could only take them during your senior year. So I took AP US History and AP Literature. I got a 4 on APUSH and a 3 on AP Lit.

I think my SAT scores were strictly average, if not a little bit below average. I’m not sure of the new scale for SATS, but according to my transcript, I took my SATs in 2015. I took them twice so the highest from each category are: Reading - 570. Essay - 8. Math - 490. Writing - 560.

My original college was Temple University. First semester I was on Dean’s list, but my GPA dropped slightly during my second semester. I had 30some credits at Temple before I transferred to a smaller state school (again personal issues). My end GPA at Temple was 3.78.

I am now currently at a smaller state school. I was undeclared at Temple but at my state school I am currently going to Elementary Education, meaning I am taking all teaching related courses. However, I am considering changing majors, possibly to something to do with Public or Global affairs or marketing.

I’m just very lost right now in my life and I recently went to New York City and fell in love with it. I’ve always wanted to live in New York, so I’m wondering if maybe this would be a good start for me. What are my chances of getting into schools there? Is NYU out of the question?

Your SAT score would have to come up dramatically in order for you to get accepted to NYU. It will be even harder as a transfer student. In addition, NYU is famous for not giving good aid. Is money going to be an issue?
