I am entering Cornell as a Psych major in CAS this fall. I am planning on taking the pre-med track. However, if I do not feel it is right for me, business is my second choice. How difficult is it to transfer to AEM if I meet all the requirements?

Bump, I need help :(.

Bump!! this is exactly my problem! Especially with all the pre-reqs for premed, it is difficult to find time in a schedule to add any other courses

Should be possible and not too hard. They will, however, ask you for valid reasons etc.

I remember reading about this on Cornell’s homepage.

the website says that you need at least a 3.0 to be “competitive” for an internal transfer to AEM - but in reality, in order to REALLY be competitive you need at least a 3.5

also, take AEM classes. as many as you can.

Face it PM, everyone is going to be trying to transfer into AEM. It does look a little fishy that you were originally in psychology

i would do this:

take -
econ101
psych101
FWS
calculus/stats
bio

you won’t be able to transfer until you take at least 3 AEM classes, one of which is AEM 1200, intro to business management. this means that you won’t be able to even THINK about transferring until after spring semester next year, because that’s the only time that AEM 1200 will be open to non-AEM freshmen. i’d suggest taking intro to marketing too, which is offered in the fall.

…good luck :)

i think marketing is also offered during winter break :)

Hmm…I am definitely considering these options. One thing I forgot to mention is that I can get credit for Macroeconomics and Calc 1. Would that make it easier to schedule this? The requirements for transfer say I only need 2 of the AEM courses if everything else is fulfilled?

Oh also forgot to mention, I actually applied to and was accepted to CAS as a Bio + Society major…I wish they could see that so it looks a bit less suspicious.
