I am currently a Freshmen at a small liberal arts school. I have enjoyed my time here but I already feel as if I am stuck in the middle - as if I am not being challenged to the level I could be. I finished high-school with a 3.97/4.0 and a 28 ACT. My GPA was high enough but the ACT did not bring the best out of me so applying for Ivy League Schools didn’t seem worth while. I finished my first semester with a 4.0, taking 18 credits while participating in choral, Enactus and playing a college sport. I also won the starting position and started most of the season. I intend on getting a 4.0 again this upcoming semester and will already have accumulated 58 total credits after my freshmen year (AP course credits included from highschool). If I applied to transfer to an ivy league would have a good chance? I play soccer, I may not be good enough to receive a scholarship or playing time initially at D-1, but I know as a fact I am good enough to be a walk-on or practice squad player. What do you guys think is the best course of action for me? Thanks!
Note that many of the Ivies will not take much, if any, AP credit. My daughter didn’t use any AP credit, only for advanced placement in calculus. Chem would not have been allowed even for that use, AP Chem is just a prerequisite for freshman chem, and CS dept doesn’t accept it either, for instance.I don’t know how many credits an ivy would let you use in total, so refer to their websites. I think the relevant information is how many credits you have at your current institution along with HS transcript and test scores which will still be used with only one year of college.
I would expand the search beyond the Ivies and look at other strong colleges and check the transfer rates. Rule out the ones that only take a miniscule amount. You seem to have an academic reason for transfer but if you have a more specific one maybe your match with the particular college will be more compelling.
I think you’ll have a better chance at a school that wants your soccer skills.
BTW, the Ivies have no scholarships (athletic or otherwise).
