Transferring to another Claremont college?

I'm considering going to Harvey Mudd, but I'm not 100% sure I'm going to be an engineer major. Is it easier to transfer to Pomona, Scripps, Pitzer, or Claremont Mckenna by already being enrolled in one of the Claremont Consortium?

This doesn’t actually answer your question, but I know you can go to Mudd and have an off-campus major at one of the other colleges if you decide you don’t want to earn a major at Mudd.

I don’t think transferring is easier, but you can always major off-campus while staying at HMC. You can even live off-campus in certain circumstances. Note that you’d still need to finish the core and do a minor at HMC if you take this path.

I know someone who couldnt handle the core (but still wanted to do computer science). I think he was about to get kicked out of school. However, he was able to transfer to CMC, and is doing much better now.

I think that you would need especially good reasons for transferring. Since the campus culture, location, and facilities are the same across the 5C’s, you would need to find another compelling reason to transfer?

Asked the question at a Pomona session–the answer was that Pomona takes very few transfers due to high retention rate, and would be unlikely to take one from Mudd (looking for a different type of student than a typical Mudder).
