I have an associates degree right now and I’m interested in finishing my bachelor’s at ASU. While reading the admission requirements, I noticed that ASU requires SAT/ACT scores even if you are a transfer student and have an associates degree. I should say that ASU requires a SAT score for admission into certain programs such as the business program.

I’m 26 years old and I took the SAT almost 10 years ago and I don’t even know where the score sheet is. I don’t even remember if I took the real SAT as it might have just been a practice SAT. So, my question is, how do I transfer in without submitting my SAT scores? Is that even possible? Would I have to apply to a particular program that doesn’t require a SAT score submission and then switch to the program that I want to be in (business)? Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help anyone can give.

Send the admissions office an email. They’re pretty good about responding. Include your age, years since you took the SAT, and the fact that you’ll be a community college grad. You might also check with the College Board to find out how long a score CAN be reported. (They may charge extra for going back quite a while; I don’t remember the details.)

Be careful about applying for anything but the college/major you want. ASU (like a number of other schools) limits the number of units you can complete before a significant surcharge kicks in, and they also have quite a few courses that are limited to students enrolled in the specific major or school.

Your current school probably has an academic advisor who can help with some of this transfer information, especially if your current school is in Arizona.

I contacted the ASU admissions office and the advisor told me that the college board keeps archived records of all SAT scores so, I should be able to obtain my scores and have them sent to ASU. However, since I took the SAT 10 years ago, I realized that the test and how it is scored has changed. When I took it, it only had a math and a verbal section. Now it has 3 sections and one of the sections that ASU uses for it’s minimun requirement for admission to the W.P. Carey School of Business is a section that wasn’t on the SAT when I took it.

The advisor I spoke with seemed to have trouble understanding this and wasn’t able to recommend any course of action for me. I have a feeling that I’m going to have to take the current version of the SAT, at the age of 26 lol, to ensure my admission to the program I want to be in. It seems kind of ridiculous to me that ASU requires SAT scores from a transfer student with an associate’s degree.

My daughter just transferred to ASU and she did not have the written portion of the SAT since she took her SATs before the written part was added. This shouldn’t be a problem for you.
