Transferring to Baruch?

I’m a second-semester freshman at SUNY Purchase studying Economics. I figured since Purchase is not known for its Economics program, I want to study in an environment that is more competitive and ambitious than where I am now. I finished out the fall semester with a 4.12 GPA, but my high school grades lie around a B/B+, and my SAT scores are well below the average for Baruch. I plan on finishing with a 4.0 GPA or above by the time my spring semester ends, taking as many math and econ courses as possible. Is there any way to know what chances are of them accepting me? I’ve applied to Binghamton and Stony Brook since those have similar rigors in terms of course load. (Stony Brook is closer to home, I live on the Island, but I’d much rather go to Baruch). If someone could get back to me at their latest convenience on where my chances lie, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Freshman with less than 30 credits are usually looked at with their previous high school transcript. You have a good chance of entering Baruch. I recommend submitting a recommendation letter, and an essay on why Baruch is the school for you to further increase your chances. You’re right, Baruch is a great program for business majors because Baruch is near one of the largest financial trading centers of the world, Wall Street!
