Transferring to Brown from UNC

I was a senior in the class of '08 applicant pool and was originally rejected from Brown.

I had a 3.7, 1430/2180, good rec, tons of great ECs/leadership.

I am from Chattanooga, TN and currently a freshman at UNC-Chapel Hill. I love UNC, but I really want a more liberal arts environment environment and a smaller, less-greek oriented school, and I definitely want to apply to transfer, even if I ultimately decide not to.

What sorts of stats do I need to be very competitive? What GPA? I am already getting pretty involved. Does that matter?

Thanks!

do as well as possible. the difficulty of transferring varies from year to year. obviously, the better you do, the better your chances

Brown takes very few transfers. Apply if you want, but don't have your heart set on getting in, even with a 4.0.

^^untrue
it varies quite substantially every year. one year it was 140, the next 20. but either way you slice it, it is hard.
the general standard to be competitive for gpa is 3.7 or higher. the standard to have a chance is 3.5
your essays and recs will matter a lot; focus on getting to know professors so they can write good ones
financial need also matters as transfer admission is not need blind.
