Hello everyone.
I would love to hear some advice on my situation if possible.
I am currently an honors student at a top-25 university. I really am enjoying my time at my current college, but I am torn for the following reason.
I came into college without a clear path for what I wanted to do in my future. By chance and out of a whim of curiosity, I decided to take a class in a new language. I never expected to fall in love with a language, its history, and its culture, but I believe I have. The problem is that the program here is very small: only four sequential language courses and a scattering of history courses, but ones taught in English. Taking these courses unfortunately only culminates in a minor.
I have done some research for colleges that offer a major in this program, and Brown is one of the 15 or so in the U.S.
If you think that this is a viable reason for transferring and if I am a solid candidate for such a great school, please let me know. I will post some of my stats to give you an idea of my academic caliber.
HS GPA: 4.0 UW
Projected College GPA in first semester: 3.7-8
ACT: 32 (First try)
SAT: Never taken
I’ve also heard that Brown takes financial aid into consideration for transfers, and I would not need it.
Some additional information:
I did apply to Brown as a senior under influence by my parents, but my application was admittedly spur of the moment and last minute, and I was rejected as expected. I am also trying to find out if they retain and look at old applications just out of curiosity. I did, however, receive acceptances from a few other ivies.
Thank you for your time and have a great day
