Hi guys. I'm not the one who wants to transfer to Cambridge or oxford, but my friend does. Does anyone on this board know anything about transferring to these universities? Or do these universities have a transfer policy for US students at all? My friend plans to transfer from cc with history as her major. Is there a website that can tell her all the requirements that she needs other than the school's website? The cc counselor told her that Cambridge does not accept transfer students. Is that true? It would be really helpful if someone on this board can demystify this process.

i really dont think that they accept transfers...

They do not.

she has to apply as a regular first year with A level exams. I'm not too familiar with the process but I know that they do not in fact accept transfers since it only takes 3 years to graduate and switching majors is not really common either.

keep asking, someone should know.

I think the SAT and SAT IIs are all that are required (with competitive score being 700+ in each respective category), as well as a good GPA, of course.

Surprisingly, numerous professors have told me that Oxford is not a difficult school in which to gain admission. It is primarily numbers-oriented, and thus dissimilar to the admissions policies of US Schools (the weight of ECs and so on). However, though admissions may be a straightforward process, I have heard that it is extremely difficult to perform well.

Thanks for answering the questions. nspeds or anyone else, do you know a website that tells what the requirements are for an american student who are applying for these two universities?

I think the regular admissions websites for each respective school contains information for US applicants; if not, you could always e-mail an admissions officer at that school.
