Transferring to Carnegie Mellon

<p>Hi, I'm currently an undergrad freshman undergoing my first semester at University of Colorado at Boulder. I'm in the School of Engineering with a Computer Science major and I'm seeking to transfer into Carnegie Mellon's School of Computer Science. I tried applying when I was a senior in high school, but I was put on the priority and eventually rejected. I'd like to know what I should be doing in order to attempt to transfer and what my chances would be with my current status.</p>

ACT) 35 (From high school)</p>

<p>Academics)
High School GPA Unweighted) 3.6 and within the top 10% of my graduating class.
At the end of this semester I will be have completed 42 credits at Boulder (30 of which came in from AP credits) and next semester I am anticipating taking 16-18 more credits. None of my grades in my current classes are in any immediate danger, so I believe I can expect around a 3.8 to 4.0 GPA after this semester ends. </p>

Was awarded CU Boulder's President Joseph A. Sewall Award
Membership in some student groups on campus
Anticipating an SAT teaching job in the summer
Was a National Merit Semifinalist</p>

<p>Personally, I say to heck with the chances. APPLY, no matter what. </p>

<p>If you want Carnegie Mellon, then go for it. It gets a ton of respect in the tech world, especially for computers and robotics. You would need to target your transfer for the fall, very few transfers are given for spring (and, besides, the deadline passed two weeks ago).</p>
