Transferring to Costal

I know that audition programs are very purposeful about the groups of students they bring in as a class. They look at types, ranges and other characteristics to put together groups that will work well together. Based on that fact, does anyone know if they take transfer students? And how difficult it is to transfer into the program?

We will, on occasion, accept a transfer student. However, we don’t seek them out. Think of it this way. We don’t really have a quota of students. We look for about 10 per class. If that drops to 8, so be it. If that balloons to 14, we’ll be happy with that. Our current freshman class in MT is within that range. Therefore we are not seeking to add anyone. That said, if someone came to us, we would certainly take the audition. If that person was someone that would enhance the company, we would not hesitate to offer them a space in the company.

Long answer, but I hope one that makes sense. If you have specific questions, feel free to send me an email at kmartin@coastal.edu.
