Hi, My son is leaving his 4 year college after about 24 credits and starting the transfer process to a 2 year community college this week. Classes start in 2 weeks. We’d submitted the FAFSA last year around this time, and the application information online says he has to resubmit it with the new college’s code. Offices are closed now, but wanted to ask the community if you think resubmitting the FAFSA for 2019 - 2020 year with the new school’s college code is a valid option? Can a FAFSA even be resubmitted?
And if it can, I imagine 2 weeks isn’t enough lead time for it to be processed, so would the new school credit some funds back once the FAFSA decision has been made?. Or must the FAFSA for 2020-2021 be done now?
Yes, you can go into the 2019-2020 FAFSA and have it sent to the new school. But you might as well go ahead and fill out the 2020-2021 one while you’re there and submit that as well.
