I'm currently in my first semester at a community college in Central Florida and hoping to transfer to NYU after getting my AA. My high school GPA wasn't great but my SAT/ACT scores were above average. I'm confident in my ability to have a good GPA in CC but am wondering what my chances are on getting into NYU (especially being an out of state student)? Is there anything I should be doing to getting in now? I've tried contacting reps at NYU and am waiting on their responses so hoping that will help me get an idea on things. Any tips/suggestions would really help me out.

Thanks in advance!

NYU does not favor in state students. Do well at your CC and you’ll have a fine chance. Just make sure you can afford the more than $55K per year as aid is very hard to get there.

I’m planning to live off campus so that should cut down on the costs but thanks for the input!

What school at NYU? What major? This matters because individual NYU schools are different transfer rates, and different majors matter as well.

Looking to enter into college of arts and sciences majoring in international relations. Does that change any circumstances for me?

International Relations is an honors major here. You have to apply and be accepted, and less than 25 people are accepted each year. I don’t think it is eligible for transfer students. The closest match would be Politics.
