Is this common? I want to re-apply to some schools as a transfer that I have been accepted to as a freshman applicant. Is it usually advantageous I was initially accepted. Or will they fear I will "reject" them again and thus the process will be more rigorous?

I had problems with FA forms- turning them in on time and plus some financial situations changed. So after my freshman year I am hoping to attend a college I find more fitting (rather than settling for the "cheap" one I will attend next year).

If you otherwise qualify for admission, prior acceptance increases your chances. They have no way of knowing whether you will “reject them again”, although some safety schools that try to play with their yield may reject you if you seem overqualified.

some schools require you (Occidental, for example) to explain WHY you’ve decided to reapply to this school after you denied them admission last year. I feel that your FA forms is a valid reason but just explain it to the school so it doesn’t seem like you’re taking advantage :)
