Transferring to TTU petro engineering

I am transferring to TTU in fall 2014 and was hoping someone could possibly shed some insight and share any tips to make sure I succeed. There is a lot of pressure as I will not be accepted to the pre engineering program until I take 12 credit hours and obtain a 3.2 at tech. From what i have researched you only have one shot at getting into the program and if I somehow fall short of the 3.2 from getting an unfortunate C, then i'm stuck in Texas without a degree program. I have a few options. I could survey calc 3 and physics 2 in the summer to make sure I can ace them when I transfer to guarantee admission into the program, or I could take those classes and take statics or dynamics as well as some other intro engineering classes.

If I go to the earliest possible orientation in may, would i have a good chance of being able to pick the best classes/professors or are they likely already filled by then.

Also, would calc 3 and physics 2 be easy gpa boosters or still weed out courses and should finish them so I can take statics or dynamics first semester?

Thanks!

If you started in foundational, you have more than 1 shot to get the 3.2

Calc 3 is a hit or miss class, teachers being the main variable. Physics 2 is considered a weed out class and to an extent so is statics, the main weed out class is thermo.

Honestly the cut off should be 3.5, and I’ve been discussing that with our advisor so it should become a reality soon. We have way too many students in the program right now just trying to make a quick buck, but I’m biased so…

thank you for your advice. Does anyone have an more feedback they can offer
