I recently was accepted to UCI & UCSB but rejected to UC Davis. I live thirty minutes away from UCD and it was my ideal choice. Now I will have to attend UCI or UCSB. If I seek a transfer after two years at UCSB/UCI what are my chances of getting into UCD? Should I simply attend a CC and transfer?

Celif, everyone will tell you that inter-UC transfers are rarely accepted. I think any given UC will only take about a dozen inter-UC transfers each year. If you don't mind going to a CC, your best shot is to Xfer to Davis if you really want to go there.

I think that if you were accepted at both UCI and UCSB, you have a GOOD chance to get accepted on appeal to UCD! Do NOT give up plz. I was in your shoes last year, but appealed the decision and was accepted on appeal! Just be sure to send in new, compelling information and be sure to mention your acceptances to UCI and UCSB & send the acceptance letters to them in your appeal packet explaining you want UCD! Don't settle for second choices! Good luck and I think you have a great chance!
Show them you want to attend!
Go AGS! UC Davis is the BEST!
PLZ try it! You've got a great shot!

Celif, try to appeal your decision like ucdrox said. The key to appealing is sending them 'new and important' information that was not included in your application. If your GPA has gone up since you applied, include that. If you've had chronic illness or something unique, use that. I've written two succesful appeals letters.

BTW Celif, CC to UC transferring doesn't look bad on your transcript. In fact, you'll definately get to know your teachers better at CC so make sure you go to office hours. You'll get letters of recommendation that are a lot better that way for graduate school. Also, as soon as you get into a UC, make sure you do some more hardcore extracurricular work in the subject you're into.

I will try my best to appeal. I was planning on going to UCD and now that my mother lost her job it has gained a greater importance. I was reading up on appeals and I noticed that I will need letters or rec. Should I ask anyone in particular other than my teachers? Should my mother write a letter of rec. about our financial status?

celif, i know a personal who appealed to UCD and got in. She had a younger brother who had auticism. She wrote about how he was lonely, needed HW help from her, need her comfort. Stuff like that. If u can make ur mom's story sound heart warming or whatever, it will make ur case that much better. good luck.

highschoolda, a brother with autism who neede his sister is a good and compelling reason. To belittle that suggesting people invent sob stories is....a mother loosing a job, however, is a material event. The OP must have been close to have been accepted by the other schools, and this is the first UC appeals case on this board that seems to stand a chance.

Celif, i'm in the EXACT situation as you are in. But im thinkin..when will we receive appeal responses from UCD? Will it be before MAy 1st? I DO want to reserve a spot a uci too..

Send in a SIR for a college that you want to go to and then when appeal comes in, send a letter back to whatever college you intially signed up for to tell them you are not going.

e.g.

Dear UC (whatever) admissions,

I have been accepted by UC Davis on an appeal basis. I am sorry i won't be attending UC (whatever) this fall.

yours truly,
(your name)

If appeal doesn't work, you guys would just have to go to the school you registered for or go to a CC.

I went to visit UCI and attended a seninar in Oakland this Sunday. I'm very impressed by UCI and their financial aid is suffienct. Juicy I may be joining you :)!
