Hey everyone! First off I would like to state that it is a pleasure to be a part of this forum, I hope I can become an asset to this brilliant community.
I am a student at Long Beach City and I am trying to transfer to either UCLA or UCI, as soon as I can in 2011. I will be done with all of my GEs and other subjects (as per my major i.e. Biology) by the end of fall 2010 and will have a GPA of 3.94 or even 4.0 (since I wont transfer the class I got a B in).
I don't have anyone who has ever gone to university in my immediate family which is why I am at a loss as to what to do now. How do I go about in order to start my UC life? How should I initiate the transfer process, since I still have some courses to do in fall 2010? I am so confused. Does anyone have any idea as to where I should start off? Please help me out.
Also, what do you think my chances are? I am 20, I have taken max units throughout all my semesters, have a decent GPA, part-time job, and plenty of awards in school? Do I still need to do voluntary work, to make myself stand-out more?
I thank you in advance and will constantly be checking back to see your precious comments and advise.

Your GPA gives you an excellent shot at UCLA, and you are a shoe-in at UCI. As long as you’ve got as many of your major pre-reqs done as possible, you just need to apply when the application date comes up in November. As a guide for whether or not you’ve got your GEs really completed you can use the IGETC sequence. I think it’s helpful.

My advice is to just make sure you’ve got at least 60 semester units, otherwise the UCs won’t consider your transfer.
