Transferring to UCLA; received GED.

I'll be as brief as possible about my situation. I received my GED instead of a high school diploma, and I am wondering if that will adversely affect my chances of being accepted. I would love to attend UCLA, and I am a psychology major.

My cumulative UC-transferrable GPA at the end of the fall semester will be: 3.57
I'm planning on transferring for Fall 2010.

I have IGETC fulfilled, and am a California Community College student.

Although I didn't receive my diploma, I did receive an 800/800 on the science component of the GED test.

I also volunteer for an elderly/assisted living center, tutor young children, and volunteer in adaptive P.E. on campus. I should have about 80 hours of volunteer work done by the time I apply.

How do my chances look toward being accepted to UCLA?

i dont think you having a GED will affect the decision of the admissions dept.

i also have a GED and got accepted last fall as a psych major. finish your pre-reqs (IGETC included), maintain a high GPA and have EC’s.

i got in with 3.87 GPA overall
IGETC completed
not sure about TAP
ECs: full time employment and service in the california air national guard
(i think the national guard thing really helped)

but back to original question: no, having a GED instead of a HS diploma will not hinder your chances in my experience.

emil…how many chance threads will it take for you to feel some sort of self assurance?

he made this thread 8 months ago.
