Transferring to UT Austin as a non-CAP student?

Hi, I am currently attending UTSA as a freshman, the CAP slots filled up INSTANTLY for UTSA, but I did not want to go to another UT school like UTA or UTT. I am wondering what kind of GPA I will need to maintain (I am hoping to become an engineering major) and if extracurriculars and test scores are taken into a large amount of consideration for transfer students?

By test scores I mean SAT and ACT, and to clarify I was offered CAP but slots at UTSA filled up instantly.

ACT/SAT is not a consideration for transfers with 30+ hours, and you can’t apply to UT Austin with less. So no, they won’t help/hinder you at all.

I have no experience applying to Cockrell, but I’ve heard averages of 3.8+, which could be spooky, depending on what kind of student you intend to be. That said, your attention should, first and foremost, be focused on your GPA—so don’t commit to any ECs that might keep you from getting As. GPA is the most important things, along with killer essays.

Good luck with this semester

I’d recommend you look at the transfer thread to see which transfer students were accepted and which were not this year. Start toward the end of the thread.

So I hope this thread gets bumped, I have finished off last semester with a 4.0 with 16 credit hours, but I have not started applying, can anyone chance me if I were to apply with a 4.0 but little to no ECs?

I have transfer stats including numbers of applicants, admitted, enrol; and the average applied, admitted, and enrolled GPAs.

Do you need that?

@scientist89 sure that would be helpful, I would like the know the Cockrell School of Engineering stats but do u know anything else like the ECs admitted transfer students did?

@Feroxity These stats are official. I got them when I came to the admission office. Hopefully, they will be almost the same as that of Fall 2017.
I also live in San Antonio, but I went to SAC instead of UTSA. I was accepted to CNS for Spring 2017 with a GPA 4.0 in 62 credit hours, 3 essays, 10 recommendation letters, and NO extracurriculars. Why don’t you go to SAC for cheaper tuition?

@scientist89 --this may be an ignorant question but are those CAP stats for UTSA specifically or across the UT CAP system?

I also have stats for 2015-2016CAP participation/Enrollment . 699 enrolled in UTSA, then 295 of them went to UT Austin

@scientist89 Thank you for providiving stats. Do you happen to have any stats about external transfers for nursing at ut austin?
