Transferring to Wharton or Ross sophomore year

Hi I have been accepted to UCSD and Emory but have been rejected from my dream schools...I like Emory, not so much UCSD, (no business, large classes, too close to home) but I want to try to transfer to my dream schools.
Mainly because I don't want to stay in the south for 4 yrs..(despise hot weather..) and I heard that Emory business grads mainly get placed in the south.

I slacked off starting junior year second semester so I'm not complaining about not getting in to my top choices, but I still would like to transfer and was hoping I could get some advice.

My two dream schools are Wharton and Ross and I had a couple of questions regarding transferring to these schools.

First off, should I attend UCSD or Emory for a year before I transfer?
UCSD is a LOT cheaper for me because I am instate but just in case I won't be able to transfer I would like to stay at Emory since it has business, whereas UCSD doesn't.

Secondly, how hard is it to transfer to these schools? I know Wharton is REALLY hard, but what about Ross? I know it's top 5 but, isn't it significantly less selective than Wharton? since it's public and has a smaller retention rate.
Oh btw, does Ross have smaller classes than Michigan as a whole? because the only thing I don't like about public schools are the large class sizes. I prefer smaller class sizes since students get more individual attention from professors.

Lastly, should I retake my SAT's??
I'm definitely willing to retake them if it helps me significantly.
The thing is that I didn't study much for them (about a week right before I took them) so I think if I study for them my I would be able to raise my score 100~200 more points.

My stats

WGPA: 3.645 (I know...it's horrible...downward trend also...)
(9th 4.0 -> 10th 3.75 -> 11th -> 3.58 12th ->3.25ish)
SAT1: CR: 800 M: 730 W:600
SAT2: Korean: 790 US: 720 Math2: 700 Lit: 700 World H: 630

AP scores: World, US, Euro, English Lang: all 3's..
I'm planning to not send these scores when I transfer since
I'm not going to use these to fulfill my general electives or anything.
(I'm enrolled in AP Latin,Bio,Poli Sci/Econ but I'm not going to take the AP's)
Senioritis....I need a break before college lol...
Also I want to take college courses in most of these subjects..
(I feel like I'll learn a whole lot more than high school)

I plan on getting as close to a 4.0 as possible in college.

So if my college gpa is 3.8ish

and if I retake my SAT's and get..
SAT1: CR: 800 M: 750 W: 700
SAT2: Korean 800 Math2: 750
If you guys recommend taking a 3rd one I would take
either Lit or W. History: 750

Oh and I was planning to take an intensive Chinese language course and a writing composition course this summer at UCI (chinese because I want to..writing because I suck at writing) but, would it be better to take Econ and Calc (since those two courses are required for business)??

I know this post is pretty long, but I would really appreciate some feedback.
thanks in advance for taking the time to read/post. :)

same question.
quite a few of my friends are in Upenn or surrounding schools

how hard is it to transfer from stern to wharton

If you're in HS right now, I recommend taking the SATs again before you graduate.

Ross and Wharton are near impossible to transfer into. A Ross rep told me it was a 3% transfer rate. My mind just boggles when I think of that. Wharton is probably is .3%.

Heh. Emory isn't bad. South placement only? I highly doubt it. It's a good business school. Just because it doesn't come up in conversations amongst regular people doesn't mean anything. It's hit by recruiters and hit big.

Goizueta Business Magazine Winter 2007

-The program got a significant boost this past May, when Goizueta was designated a “target school” by the Wall Street powerhouse Goldman Sachs.-

Hope that helps. I wouldn't pass up Emory for UCSD.

thanks for the reply, can anyone else elaborate?
advice on what classes to take in the summer will be much appreciated!

I'm currently a senior.
Why do I have to take SAT's before I graduate?
Do the colleges not consider them?

Emory's Business school doesn't begin until junior year. That being the case, I wouldn't decide Emory for business if you plan on transferring after a year or two. I would suggest saving up your money, getting good grades at UCSD and then trying to transfer.

but i'm leaning towards emory since it's more probable that I won't be able to transfer...but i'm trying to do everything to increase my chances..

can anyone give me some more advice on the summer courses and SAT's?

thanks :)

UCSD has a top economics program as well as a managerial science concentration I believe.
