I posted this on the admissions forum before realizing that there was a specific one for transfers; sorry about that.

Here's a description of my situation. I tried to keep it brief as possible. I'm currently a freshman in the honors program at the University of Michigan, Dearborn campus majoring in Environmental Studies and commuting from home. I was homeschooled for high school using an accelerated curriculum. During my senior year, I also took four duel enrollment classes at U of M Dearborn and earned 14 credits. My overall high school GPA (including these college courses) is 3.98 and my ACT composite score is 30, with a 34 in English and 35 in Reading. I also received an academic award from one of my professors while I was doing duel enrollment.

I was contacted by schools like the University of Chicago, Drexel University, and Case Western Reserve, but I ultimately decided to go to U of M Dearborn for my first year because I was invited to join the honors program and received a scholarship. It was by far the cheapest option, and my brother also goes there, so we can carpool and share commuting expenses. However, I didn't really intend to stay for more than one year, as I don't feel that this school is the best fit for me long-term, so I'm looking to transfer to a small university either after this semester or for my sophomore year, perhaps on the East Coast, where I can go and "spread my wings", so to speak. I'm looking into the College of William and Mary, as it suits all of my preferences and is great academically, and I've contacted them about transferring. My test scores are about average by their standards, and it sounds like I would at least have a shot at being accepted as a transfer student if there is a spot open.

The classes I'm currently taking at Dearborn are an honors history seminar, honors English composition, an intro to anthropology class, and a computer literacy/info management class. However, I'm afraid that since I'm taking neither math nor science this semester, this will be a huge disadvantage and will make me look like a weak transfer candidate, especially since my major at William and Mary would be Geology/Environmental Science. I looked into switching out my computer class for a geology class with lab, but the lab was full. I emailed the professor asking if there was any possibility that I could somehow still be admitted to the class.

So my question is this: should I go ahead and take the computer class, which I can tell right away is going to be very easy and will therefore help boost my GPA, or should I take the geology class if I can get into it, even if taking it means my GPA isn't quite as high? I apologize that this post is so long-winded.
