Transferring to Yale after year in UK university

I was considering doing this as i might be going to the University of Bath in England..Anyone know how i go about doing this...what they look for when im applying,e tc?

Since they take so few transfer students - usually around 30- you may want to consider applying as a freshman. Just a suggestion, although not knowing more about your circumstances and qualifications, it's hard to advise.

Ilovehomework, like A.S.A.P. pointed out, only 50 or so students (out of 1000 applicants) get into Yale as Transfers. Most of those applicants come from other Ivies or equally good schools (like Stanford, MIT, Chicago, Duke, Cambridge, Oxford etc...). It really is very difficult to get into Yale as a transfer.

wow...what about schools like colombia, chicago, princeton? i hear chicago has a high drop out rate, would transferring be easier?

I don't think Princeton accepts transfer applicants, at least this year. Transferring to any top school is difficult; it's usually a lot easier to apply as a freshmen. Columbia and Duke, for example, usually admit under 10% of transfer applicants.

ohh i see, thanks.

what about schools like dartmouth, UVA, NYU, and CMU?

since it can be so difficult to transfer, make sure to go to a school that you wouldn't mind staying at until you graduate.

also, regarding transferring, i'm definitely not sure, but i would think that it'd be more difficult to transfer from out of country than transferring from another school in the USA. As alexandre said, many of the transfer students will be applying from top schools, so you'll have an incredible amount of competition.

does anyone know if internationals have to take the SAT (as transfers) to transfer to top schools....i realize it is a case-by-case situation but id appreciate some feedback

Yes, you need SATs for top privates. Big thing to understand for international transfers is that space is rare and financial aid almost impossible.

well im an american in canada so its a little different for me....I have heard from some people that I dont need to take the SAT. It is used to gauge college potential so if youre already in college (and doing well), whats the point?

yeaa, thats a good point.
