Transfers?

Can American students from foreign schools transfer to Yale after they realize that they don't want to be in england? Example: from cambridge to yale in the second year?

You should contact Yale on this. My guess is: probably not. The American system is too different than the British system. The coursework isn't equivalent and neither is the grading. I know that you generally cannot transfer from an American university to a British one (you have to apply as a new student), so I'd imagine there is a high likelihood of it being the same the other way.

That being said, there may be some hope: there was a kid in the transfer "class" above me that was from Australia. The problem is I'm not sure if he transferred from an Australian university or if he was already at an American school when he applied to transfer.

My suggestion is: if you really don't want to be in England (and it turns out you CAN transfer), apply to more schools than Yale (and the other Ivies + Stanford). It's such a crapshoot and you may very well end up stuck in England if those are the only institutions you're banking on.

If you can't transfer and you really do hate it there, I'm sure they'd allow you to apply as a freshman.

but if i apply as a fresher... would i have to rely on my high school grades and whatnot- or would the fact that i'm coming from a prestigious university like cambridge increase my chances regardless of my grades?? thanks
