Okey, so I didn't get an acceptance letter for my RD application to Duke. What are my chances of transfering after one year at another college? I mean to say, how difficult is it to transfer in on the whole?

I know a couple kids who transferred in starting sophomore year, I think they had pretty much all A's and had been involved in some extra curriculars. Pretty smart kids. I don't know what the acceptance rate for transfers is - I bet you could find it on the admissions website.

Okey, I see. That doesn't actualyl sound too bad. By straight As you do mean frosh year right? Does Duke look at your high school stuff if your a transfer still?

Unfortunately, Duke is one of the schools where it's harder to transfer in that it is to get in as a freshman. They admitted 16 transfers last year. It's not impossible, though; I know two who transferred from GA Tech and UF. If you apply as a freshman, your high school record will be more important than if you applied as a sophomore.

In all cases, your high school record matters.
