Transferring

Next year I will be going to Reed College. I really like it, but to be honest, I am sort of skeptical. However, they gave me about $45000 in grants, so my parents jumped at it.

I have been toying with the idea of transferring for sophomore year...and I am seriously considering Pomona. How difficult would this really be? What is Pomona like with the whole transferring process...

Two years ago, 8 students were admitted as transfers into the class of 2010. Last year, 10 students were admitted as transfers into the class of 2011. I do not know how many students apply to transfer.

The admittance rate for transfers is so low they don't even have a percentage rate. I believe it's seriously competetive but it's worth a shot! Good luck!

I know of a transfer from Yale there

The figures that MotherLove cited are the number of transfer students who ended up matriculating at Pomona. I can't imagine that the yield rate for transfers would be 100%, so the number of admitted transfer applicants was surely higher in both years...but it is still very selective. This past year, the ten transfer students came from very strong schools including Yale, Harvard, Cornell, Davidson, Wesleyan, Northwestern and Rice.

chopsticks, do you happen to know what kind of things those students did while they were at college?
