Transfers applying to med school

I'm about to matriculate into a college that isn't exactly my first-choice school. I'm already considering transferring to another university after one or two years of school.

Knowing that I will probably join a number of organizations and research labs at this school, if I transfer, I'll lose the possible record of having 4 years experience. Would this completely screw me over in the med school application process? And do transfers in general have a lower chance of being accepted into medical school?

Will it screw you over? No. Will it help you? No.

Going into a school already thinking about transferring is setting up a self-fulfilling prophesy. Is is it really going to be that bad?

Well, the main reason I want to transfer is for the major. I'm hoping to get into UCLA for Psychobiology. But if not, then Berkeley, for its strong Psychology program.

I personally do not think that transferring only for a particular major is a worthwhile move. Considering that major doesn't matter to med school admissions, it's a poor reason. If you have other reasons, and fully believe that you will be far more successful academically, socially, physically and emotionally (with great balance in all areas), then by all means transfer.

don't think they really mind
