Transfers entering Fall '09

I went up to Binghamton today for a tour and got back home, checked my email, and find found i was accepted 10 minutes ago!!!

Congrats and yes there were approximately between 25,000 and 30,000 applicants for this upcoming school year…

Congrats glypha :)

Bingambassador- do you know how many transfer students applied for this Fall? And of those how many were accepted?

kaley89…unfortunately I do not. I believe though that the number stated before was including transfer applications.

ok thanks anyways :)

I was also admitted last month, and called about housing. They said that there would be some hopefully available and we would get an email around april 20th. Has anyone heard?

I believe that if you have paid your deposit you can go to reslife.binghamton.edu. It will tell you all the information regarding housing. I think that you can rank your community preferences starting the 20th.

yea I can tell you. 4500 transfers applied for 700-800 spots. Went up to bing today to meet with admissions people to hopefully up the chances a little bit, sat in hours of traffic on the way home to find my rejection letter in the mail. awesome ****ing day

@ bingtransfer10: You should have received an email regarding housing sometime today; it’s timestamped 5PM.

@mcl116: I’m really sorry to hear about your rejection, and it’s unfortunate how it worked out. :(

No email yet :frowning: I paid my deposit in person about a month ago… I hope everything is ok.

checked status this morning, my acceptance was posted! I’m so happy!

I was accepted as a senior in HS, but chose a private instead. poor decision, recession, unemployment, blah blah blah. binghamton is giving me a second chance and I can’t be more grateful.

my transfer gpa was a 3.6 combined with classes from Fordham U and SUNY Purchase. Good luck to anyone still waiting to hear! Don’t give up hope, I almost did but look it’s the last week before May 1st and here was my decision. Best of luck.

Drugula, I was also accepted in HS but decided to go to community college, then attended a private uni and hated it. Really glad to be coming to Bing now. Grats on your acceptance!

I have a feeling I am not getting in…

Don’t give up hope. I called the admissions office today and they’re still going through the transfer applications. They’re not done sending out those acceptances yet.

Hey HyperJulie. Do not believe them. I am sure the people who did not receive the decision by now are on unofficial waitlist. My friend applied to Harpur and received a decision in mid-march. All my 5 friends who applied to business school received their decisions 3 weeks from now. So I do not believe that they are still working on transfer application. I am sure that they have unofficial waiting lists but they did not notice it yet because May 1, 2009 is the deadline for accepted students to make a decision. After that the school will send out 2nd wave acceptance letters. So let’s wait until May 1, 2009.

I just checked my status for it to say “waitlisted” Does anyone know roughly how many transfers were denied/accepted? and when is the latest possible date that they take students off of the waitlist? thank you

capwoo: I’m really not sure how to reply to that assertion. I do know, however, that my application has not been reviewed yet. This may end up meaning that everyone who they haven’t gotten around to yet will get waitlisted due to sheer lack of spots, but I don’t feel like they’d do that. It seems like many transfers who applied well within deadlines have not heard yet, and even the freshman decisions were really delayed. It seems as though these delays are simply because they do not have the manpower to possibly process that many applications that quickly, and they’re trying to be fair with what is left. I mean, maybe I am completely wrong but that is the feel I’ve gotten in the last month through my conversations with admissions staff. They have been honest in all respects as far as I can tell so far, and I don’t see what advantage Binghamton would have in encouraging the staff to lie about it.

Then how about my colleague who applied 8days later than me and got a decision letter three weeks from now? We applied to School of Management.

Capwoo, I don’t think any of us have the knowledge or experience to assume we know how the college admission system works at Binghamton. I would, like I said earlier, still wait and see about your decision rather than assume and give others information that you have no idea about.

jaykwon,

I believe that this year there were about 4000 transfers and about 700-800 were accepted.
