Arts..no i'm not on a waiting list :-( !!!

Yeah I'm waiting for arts too. What reason did they give you for the refusal? Below requirements? They're usually very very eager to get international students because of the extra money.

What are your stats may I ask? In terms of overall average.

appealing is probably your only option. doesn't hurt to give it a try if you're willing to go an extra mile.

EbolaZaire - are you planning on taking BIOL 201 or BIOC 212? (In the Winter term)
I have no idea how those two courses or different or which one is best to take... any idea?

hey im considering transferring after freshmen year at my nyc private just have a couple questions..can you apply after first semester of freshmen year? or how does that work..is it extremely difficult to get into the management school as a transfer..what kind of gpa are we looking at here? any other pieces of info or advice you guys could give would be great thanks :)

Can anybody offer some insight?

well yeah anyone have any comments?

Comments on what?

ninaa: my roommate took biol 201 and she says it's the easier class of her life. basically you have a thin coursepack, memorize it = guaranteed A. as for bioc 212, it's supposed to be equivalent to biol 201 but you learn completely different stuff. bioc 212 focuses a lot more on oncogenes and other cancer stuff whereas biol 201 is about cell cycles, myosin, basic really really easy bio stuff...and the profs were really great too. although bioc 212 is recommended for bioc 311, a lot of the kids taking it this year who took biol 201 actually are finding it easier cause they've already learned it last year.

Apparently BIOL 201 materials overlap with BIOC 311, so I guess BIOL 201 will be the better choice.

I really wish I didn't take CHEM 204 this year- the prof is really bad.

hey I'm currently a freshman at a U.S school and I am thinking of transferring to McGill next fall. Does anyone know if McGill only look at a transfer's college GPA/academic record, or do high school GPA and SAT scores factor into the transfer admission process?
thanks!

If you're a freshman, I think McGill will look at your high school GPA and SAT as well. If you apply to transfer as a sophomore instead, then your high school grades will be of less importance.

I sent in my high school grades as well when I applied as a freshman transfer, but I'm not really sure whether McGill even requires them. You can always email them and ask, though that's not guarantee you'll get a good answer.

I'm planning to transfer to McGill for next year.

I'm a freshman at Queen's University. I'm in an honours program.
I think I'll major in philosophy or international development.

My GPA is okay, but nothing stellar. My high school exam score was great though. I got 38 points on my IB.

Is the fact that I'm transferring from Queen's going to make the process any smoother? My GPA may not be sky-high but I am coming from an excellent university that is reputed to be harsh with its grading scale...

I'm essentially transferring to McGill because I love Montreal, if that makes any difference, which it doesn't.

I wouldn't come here...
We hate Queens...hahaha

I'm a philosophy major at McGill and I think your 38 on the IB, as well as a decent GPA from Queen's will get you into McGill for sure. I transferred from UBC with a 3.85.

Thanks dover. By the way a 3.85 is really good... That's pretty much an 80% average across the board, no?

As for mardybum, it's okay, I have lots of friends at McGill and I hate Queen's too. Well, I don't hate Queen's, really. In fact, I rather like it. The faculty's good, the teaching's great, the people are really easy to get along with etc. Besides, there's no denying that Queen's is academically very much on par with McGill.. at the least.
I hate Kingston though. It's small, depressing, and as close as you can get to a redneck town in Canada (from what I've seen- though my judgment may be rash).
Going from Kingston to Montreal during the weekends is like going from Mobile, Alabama to Manhattan, New York.
If it came down to it, I'd even go to Concordia if it meant staying in Montreal.
