Who else is definitely transferring to McGill? Where are you from/what's your major?

I'm coming from the University of Delaware and majoring in Microbiology/Immunology.

I'm psyched.

Who else is definitely transferring to McGill? Where are you from/what's your major?

I'm coming from the University of Delaware and majoring in Microbiology/Immunology.

I'm psyched.

I am definitely transferring to McGill, and have paid my deposit already.

I'm transferring from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and I plan to major in philosophy, with a minor in political economy.

I'm psyched too.

Have you started looking for off-campus housing yet?

Hey Ebola- you made it!! Congratulations- I have been following your
posts since you decided not to go to McGill originally. I know how badly you
wanted to transfer-- I hope the experience is everything you hope.
Best of luck. I was up for the jazz fest this week--Montreal is a wonderful
place to live.

Hello Ebola. For your information, Microbiology and Immunology in McGill has a limited enrollment of 120 students. Did you ask the admission officers about this?

Yeah, I talked to them. Technically I'm a bio major, but they told me to take all Micro/Immunology courses as if I'm in the program and then fill out an app next year. I have to have a 3.3GPA to get admitted then, so I'll be working my butt off this year.

thedoverdemon: I'm kinda freaking out about off-campus housing since I'm not sure when I can get up to Montreal to look for an apartment/most are probably already taken. How are you going about it?

I don't really know how to go about it best, but right now, my plan is to do as much research as I can before I arrive, so that as soon as I get there in late late August, I can find a decent place. Unfortunately, I'll only have the weekend before school starts to do so, which doesn't do me very good, of course.

Alternatively, I've thought about looking for a place now in the summer and possibly arranging an apartment to be held there for me till when I get there. This would help avoid the high rent and lack of housing by late-August/early-September, but the downside is that I wouldn't be able to see the apartment myself before I sign a contract or whatnot.

I applied for campus residence but was rejected (no surprise there). What are your plans?

Guys, as i said I was up in MTL the last two days. My daughter lives
on Lorne, one block from campus. There were available apartments everywhere.
On Lorne, maybe ten different apartment buildings had For Rent (Louer)
signs out front. There appears to be no shortage this year in off-campus
housing.

Go to www.craigslist.com to look. You can narrow down the area of Montreal to search, and most have pics so you know what you're getting yourself into. I started looking today and there really are plenty that are reasonably priced.

Hey, I'm a transfer student too! I'm transferring from the University of Western Ontario, going into my second year, and I'm in Microbiology/Immunology. Just wondering, what courses are planning on taking? I'm sorta lost as to which courses most Microbiology/Immunology students take in second year.

http://www.mcgill.ca/microimm/undergraduate/programs/honours/
In the 2nd year you'd take the U1 courses.
I'm pretty freaked out about having to take pchem, I've heard it's Hell.

I applied for a major in Microbiology but didn't get in due to limited enrollment. i got Biochemistry as a major. What do I have to do to transfer to Microbiology next year?

There's a form on the Micro/Immunology webpage to transfer into that major that you fill out in April. All it asks for is GPA, and they let students transfer into it on a space available basis up to 120 students.

are you planning on taking CHEM 203 or CHEM 204? have you heard if one is harder/easier than the other?
& also, are you going to take Physiology 209? It's not required but PHGY 209 and PHGY 210 are pre-reqs for third year courses like PATH 300 and PHAR 300/301 (both of which im interested in taking!)

I think I'm gonna take CHEM 204. I'm guessing it's easier b/c it's really geared towards the biology of physical chem, so unless you're super good at chem...
Yeah, I think I'm gonna take PHGY 209 and 210. I can't wait for PATH 300.

Hi, Im Molly, 19, from St. Francis Xavier University. I will be taking Electrical Engineering in McGill this fall.
BTW, is that the only forum McGill has, other than facebook?
Did you guys find a place to live yet?

Hey! I'm Jessica, 18, and I'm going to be a freshman at a small liberal arts college in Missouri. Could you guys post your stats because I'm def. going to transfer if I get accepted to McGill next fall?

i got rejected!!!! i'm sooo angry. they told me ltd space available..but i'm not planning on giving up..anybody got an idea???? i thought of calling them, but not sure if this will save me!!
