i'm deciding on takin classes at jc in the summer of '09
of course i do want to go straight to sjsu in fall....but i was wodnering about transferring...

since sjsu has spring summer and fall admissions...

is it possible if i decide to go to a jc for one semester (fall) and transfer to sjsu in the spring...can i do that?

or do i have to stay the full two years at a jc then transfer to a csu to do the two additional years to get my bachelor's

curious.

It depends if SJSU is accepting sophomore transfers.
If they are only accepting Junior transfers, you need to have sixty units before you can transfer which would mean taking 15 units for 4 semesters or taking 12 units and having summer classes

Mandy, you've been posting a lot here lately. You've received some good advice, and you've received some dreadful advice. It's important for you to realize that MOST of the people who reply to your posts on CC don't have a clue what they're talking about. You'd be much better off talking to your HS counselor, or calling or e-mailing the admissions office at the schools you're considering with your specific questions.

You have a great attitude and I'd hate to see you misled - or worse, discouraged - by some of the things you'll read on CC.

Good luck!

Here's what the SJSU admissions website says about Frosh/Soph Transfers:

Lower division transfers (Frosh/Sophomore)

The California State University has placed enrollment restrictions on lower division transfers. The following information is subject to change without notice.

To transfer with fewer than 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter units) you must:

* Declare one of the approved majors in the College of Engineering or in Nursing.
* Submit your high school transcript.
* You must be a high school graduate.
* Submit SAT I or ACT scores, unless your high school GPA was above 3.00 (3.60 for non-residents).
* Meet high school course requirements and make up any deficiencies on a course-by-course basis, usually by completing general education courses with grades of "C" or better.
* Meet the GPA/test score eligibility index required of freshmen.
* Earn at least a 2.00 grade point average in all transferable courses completed.
* Be in good standing at the last college attended.

If you completed college units before graduating from high school or during the summer between high school and CSU enrollment, you are considered a first-time freshman and must meet frosh requirements.
