Hi. I'm using Common App for my application. However, one of my teacher recommenders does not speak English and would prefer to give me a handwritten letter of recommendation. However, the Common App requires that each recommender fill out a Teacher Evaluation form which is in English. In this case how should he fill out the form? Also, what is the exact procedure regarding the translation, signing and mailing of the reference letter?

Same problem here. I think I’ll type the translations down myself. What else can you do ?

out of curiosity

can’t you write those by yourself? O_o

I mean

teachers at my school don’t even know how to use computer (I’m not gonna comment on their knowledge of English lol)

to OP
you should translate them, what else can you do?

Aehm, no, you can’t just write your recommendations yourself. If your teachers don’t use computers, they can write their recommendations on paper and mail them. (You should provide the letters and the postage, of course.) If they don’t speak English, you can get the recommendations translated.

CommonApp checks the IP from which recommendations originate to verify that the recommenders are who they say they are when they don’t have “official” email addresses (ie., MrZ@Yschool.country); each recommender needs to provide an email address and a phone number and if the CA people or colleges have any doubt they’ll check.
